Guide in Choosing a Career after High School

Browsing Yahoo! Answers, I noticed that there are many teenagers feeling troubled because they don’t know what career they should take after High School.
Most of them want a career that will give them high salary… who does not want that? But later in life, one would actually seek for something that will make them feel happy and fulfilled so it really is important to consider several things before entering a certain career path.
Evaluate and ask this question to yourself:
  • ·         What are the things that you like and you enjoy doing?
  • ·         What kind of environment you’d like to work at?
  • ·         What is it that you think you’ll be passionate at for the long run?

Most of these students felt like they not capable of something because they thought that they don’t have the skills.
Sometimes, though you finally know your interest and passion, negative thoughts might enter your mind. Like “I know what my interests are but I feel like I won’t earn good from them” Or “ I know that I want to work in healthcare industry and help people, but I don’t know if I can do this because I might not have the necessary skills”

A tip would be, do not think of what you cannot do and focus instead on developing skills you need and enhance them.

If you are one of the uncertain and think that you don’t have the necessary skills to succeed in the career you like, worry not! The role of school/institution is to train and educate us to prepare for the future by nourishing and building up one’s skills and ability.

I stumbled upon several resources that offer professional help in choosing a career. One is from Meditec.com. They have this career guide form that you have to fill up and a representative will contact and offers you help. They specialized in Healthcare  and Business education. If that is the industry you’d like to enter, that site may give you a good idea of what are the courses that may fit you.
